Clubs & Extracurriculars

Art Club allows student artists (grades 4-6) to share their creativity, try new things, and learn from each other.  Each year Art Club focuses on a different group project while also allowing time for students to pursue personal art interests.  With limited openings, this club is by invitation only.  Students express their interest in joining this club through an essay.  

Gardening Club is an extracurricular activity in which all students at Rumsey may participate. Every Wednesday from 3:05-4:00 students will work at growing and maintaining the flower beds and other landscaping around our school. Students will use their hands to pull weeds, plant bulbs/plants and mulch. This club doesn't require students to sign up; they just need to come with a willingness to work on helping beautify our school.

Rehearsals are every other Tuesdays 3:05-4:00pm. All 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are welcome to join. We sing songs, introduce students to a little show choir and perform the "Star-Spangled Banner" at a Lancer hockey game and/or a UNO sporting event, too. Sometimes we combine with AMC to prepare pieces we perform together at the December Sing-a-long and March concert.

Rehearsals are every other Thursday 3:05-4:00pm. All 4th, 5th and 6th grade students are welcome to join. We play many instruments like tubano drums, shekeres, gankoguis, buffalo drums, guiros, bongos and even some of Mrs. Nelson's personal collection. Sometimes we combine with AMC to prepare pieces we play together at the December Sing-a-long and March concert.

Rehearsals are every other Tuesday and Thursday 3:05-4:00pm. This is a chosen group of HAL and specially invited students. We play xylophone/barred instrument pieces (plus other instruments) with improvisation and composition and a little singing. Sometimes we combine with Choir or Drum Clubs to prepare pieces we perform together at the Lancer hockey game, December Sing-a-long and March concert.

Gaming Club is a biweekly club for 4th, 5th and 6th grade students held every other Thursday which provides students the opportunity to play a variety of games such as Flux, Munchkin, King of Tokyo, etc. Students will also be able to bring their own games and/or collectable card games such Yugioh and Pokemon as well.

The Rumsey Station's Robotics program consists of two team that incorporate a variety of STEM curriculum within a competitive/collaborative environment to create robots with provided components to accomplish different scoring objectives (this changes yearly). Two teams of four 5th and 6th grade students will compete with other schools from the surrounding areas with opportunities, based on competition performance, to compete at a state or national level. This is our team's fifth season.
 

Battle of the books is a 5th and 6th grade reading club where students are involved in reading a set of books throughout the year. Then they  practice "battle" over those books.  Near the end of battle season, all students are involved in a school battle. The two top winners of the school battle move on to a district battle. This club is for students who love to read and like some competition!
