History of Building

Rumsey Station Elementary School, home of the Engineers, opened its doors in 1995. Proudly displaying maroon and gold as its colors, the school was part of a $19.8 million bond issue passed in 1992. Rumsey Station has been serving the community for decades.

The school is named after Mr. Rumsey Saling, one of the first settlers in Sarpy County and the first sheriff of Sarpy County, serving for seven years. When the railroad came through the area, a depot named "Rumsey Station" was established not far from where the school now stands, honoring Mr. Saling's contributions to the community.

Since its opening, Rumsey Station has undergone several improvements to keep pace with educational advancements. It received additions as part of the 2006 bond issue, enhancing its facilities to better serve its growing student population. The school features innovative learning spaces that support collaborative and project-based learning, establishing itself as a leader in technology integration and personalized learning approaches.

The Engineer mascot, symbolized by a train engine, reflects the school's connection to the area's railroad history and embodies the spirit of progress, innovation, and forward momentum in education. This aligns perfectly with Rumsey Station's focus on providing a cutting-edge learning environment for its students.

Rumsey Station Elementary upholds the district's motto "Be Known for Greatness" by setting high standards for innovative education and personalized learning approaches. The school prides itself on offering a wide range of educational, exciting, and fun activities each day, fostering a vibrant learning community for its students, staff, parents, and the broader community.
